The BEL Group company, which operates in the space, aeronautics, and nuclear industries, has joined Coimbra Supernova, an alliance that brings together public, academic, and business entities with the goal of consolidating the region as one of Portugal’s leading aerospace hubs and raising its international profile. In addition to Active Space Technologies, this initiative includes the Coimbra City Council, the University of Coimbra, the Pedro Nunes Institute, iParque, the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region, the Municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra, Critical Software, Neuraspace, Open Cosmos, and Spotlite.

The main objective of this cluster is to position Coimbra as a leader in the country’s space sector and to make the region a benchmark in the Iberian Peninsula. The work carried out by companies operating in this sector currently provides essential tools for addressing concrete challenges such as forest management, risk prevention, adaptation to climate change, and much more. This project aims to bring together a series of scattered initiatives and entities that already work independently, to further enhance the results of this work.

Marco Galinha, Founder and CEO of the BEL Group, attended the DN Grand Conference, where he highlighted the role of Diário de Notícias as a forum for free thought and pluralistic dialogue. The conference took place at the Champalimaud Foundation and brought together government representatives, diplomats, and institutional leaders, with closing remarks delivered by His Excellency, the President of the Republic, António José Seguro.

Marco Galinha spoke at various points throughout the day, including at the opening, where he drew on the symbolism of being in a room filled with figures from diverse backgrounds and across the political spectrum to call for dialogue and the building of bridges as the only possible path to peace. The CEO of the BEL Group also participated in a panel discussing “The Portuguese Economy in 2026” and joined Filipe Alves, the newspaper’s director, at the presentation of the “Diário de Notícias Awards.”

VASP – Distribuidora de Publicações, S.A. has completed the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Iberomail – Correio Internacional, S.A., a company specialising in postal, transport and logistics services.

This operation marks a further step in VASP’s growth strategy, reinforcing its ability to offer integrated logistics solutions and expanding its presence in the areas of parcel distribution, e-commerce, e-fulfilment and specialised transport.

The complementary nature of the two companies will make it possible to provide a broader offering to customers, combining VASP’s national coverage, operational experience and logistics capacity with Iberomail’s know-how in express services, e-commerce logistics and specialised solutions.
