ESG AT THE CENTRE OF GOVERNANCE

GRUPO BEL’S ESG REPORTING RECOGNIZED BY CRÉDIT AGRICOLE

The BEL Group’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting practices have been recognized by the “ESG Reporting Leaders” initiative. This is an initiative by Crédito Agrícola (CA), which takes the form of a training program aimed at its corporate clients, designed to accelerate the transition to sustainability and meet European regulatory requirements. By reporting its ESG data on the SIBS ESG portal, the BEL Group sends a clear signal of the importance of disclosing data on these matters, whilst simultaneously making an unequivocal commitment to sustainability.

 

The BEL Group’s Sustainability Strategy for 2030 provides, under the Governance pillar, for the incorporation of ESG through the adoption of sustainability practices within the governance structure and decisions based on impact analysis. A commitment we uphold with responsibility and rigor.

GRUPO BEL MARKS WOMEN'S DAY WITH MURAL CELEBRATING GENDER EQUALITY

The Grupo BEL unveiled the mural “Feminist Flamingo, 2023” by the artist Bordalo II, a work created to mark Women’s Day and celebrate Gender Equality, which combines pieces from the Small Trash Animals series with the artist’s most interventive series, Provocative.

Marco Galinha, CEO of the Grupo BEL opened the inauguration session, welcoming all those present, addressing a special greeting to all women, in which he highlighted that “International Women’s Day makes us reflect on values that are structural to any society and any organisation: equality and freedom”.

WELLBEING GAMES FEATURED IN THE MAY EDITION OF E.BEL

The BEL Group’s May newsletter highlights the participation of around 20 Group employees in the Wellbeing Games. A collective team-building event that brought together more than 3,000 people from around 80 companies. In the area of Sustainability, we announce the BEL Group’s membership of iGen – Forum of Organisations for Equality, whilst support for the Mexer contra o Cancro initiative falls under the area of Social Responsibility.

POUPANÇA OPENS ITS FIRST STORE IN THE SETÚBAL DISTRICT

The BEL Group’s Cash & Carry chain has opened another store. The new outlet is located at Quinta do Anjo, in Palmela, and is the 13th Poupança store, which now operates in the districts of Lisbon, Leiria, Santarém and Setúbal. With over 7,000 square meters of floor space and 10,000 product lines, Poupança now also offers competitively priced products for professionals in this region of the country.

 

With this opening, the BEL Group is strengthening its presence in the food wholesale sector, expanding its logistics coverage across the country. The new Poupança store in Palmela is part of the BEL Group’s sustainable growth strategy, which continues to strengthen its presence in distribution and logistics.

VASP and Tribuna da História at the Book Fair

VASP is present at the 93rd edition of the Book Fair, that takes place from May 25th to June 11th, at Parque Eduardo VII, in Lisbon, with 2 stands of its own (B30 and B31).
Here you will be able to find a wide literary offer of the nearly 50 publishers represented by VASP, as well as the Tribuna da História, publisher recently acquired by the BEL Group and that will have on display its most recent releases.
“The Republicanization of the Monarchy”, by Fátima Bonifácio, “The War and Changes”, by António Telo and “The End of the Portuguese State of India”, by Francisco Cabral Couto, are three of the publisher’s highlights.

Active Space Technologies develops technology for JUICE probe

Active Space Technologies, a Grupo BEL universe company, has collaborated on the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) mission, a European Space Agency (ESA) project that aims to study Jupiter’s space system. The probe, which will be launched from French Guiana on April 13 towards Jupiter is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including a mean gain antenna (MGA) guidance and adjustment mechanism, produced by Active Space’s team.

Active Space Technologies was responsible for the delivery of JUICE’s medium gain antenna (MGA) pointing mechanism, ensuring the co-engineering, manufacturing, assembly, verification and testing of all models (validation and flight).

Bel Group, Bronze Sponsor of the 2nd edition of ESG WEEK

The second edition of ESG WEEK, an initiative of the APEE – Portuguese Association for Business Ethics, will take place between April 17 and 21, with the Grupo BEL as Bronze Sponsor. The aim of the initiative is to debate the issue of Sustainability and how one can invest and protect the environment and build a more sustainable world, guided by solid ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) policies.
