Tiago Fernandes holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, with a major specialization in Systems, Decision and Control and a complementary specialization in Computer Engineering.

He began his professional career in the fields of mechatronics, electronics and industrial automation, working with control systems, PLCs, robotics, CNC, maintenance and the development of electronic solutions. His career also included international professional experience in Germany.

Throughout his education and early career, he also developed expertise in 3D modelling and design, application and web development, systems integration and technological prototyping, building a multidisciplinary profile spanning hardware, software and engineering.

During his time at Instituto Superior Técnico, he worked in information systems, systems and network administration and, later, in software integration and architecture associated with the Fénix ecosystem. During this period, he also developed technology and entrepreneurial projects in the areas of software, digital platforms and education.

He joined Grupo BEL in October 2017, initially working in the innovation and technology area, where he was involved in the development of integrated hardware, firmware and software solutions, particularly in the fields of M2M, Internet of Things, autonomous systems and payment solutions.

As a result of his work in innovation and the increasingly cross-functional nature of the Group’s technology projects, he progressively assumed responsibility for Grupo BEL’s Information Technology operations, ultimately taking on the leadership of the Group’s IT function.

As Director of Information Technology, he holds Group-wide responsibility for technology strategy and operations across the different companies within Grupo BEL, including information systems, infrastructure and communications, cybersecurity, software development and integration, Data Center operations, automation, data, artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

Throughout this journey, he has led technology modernization and consolidation initiatives, the development of new solutions, systems integration and process automation, as well as the definition of operating models, management processes and decision-support tools, with a focus on bridging technology, operations and business needs.

In 2026, he joined the Board of Directors of Grupo BEL.
